Out of the storm-torn darken'd night,

  They sleep in the dawn of the day;

Together they dared war's hellish might

  'Neath the standard of right alway.

God's blessing rest on each noble son -

  The heroes of yesterday;

The day of peace their courage won,

  Their names shall live for aye.

                               AMY CHEER.
