I have received no letters from you since

I left the Base. The last I got from you

was dated 18th Dec. I have no doubt,

however, that some are on the way.

Two days ago I received a Christmas

Card from Maisie, and a letter from Chris,

dates 19th Dec. - that is all I've had,

so I am wearying on news now.

The civilian population are gradually

returning to Cambrai, and we will be able to

get our clothes washed by some of the 

women. The lady two doors down from

us sent her little girl in with a jug

of coffee for us today - very kind od

her. The wee girl (5 yrs.) enjoyed hearing

our cornet player!

Well I think that is all my news

at last. I trust you are still well, and

have had a quiet and peaceful time at

the New Year. I have been thinking of you

very often today, and am hoping for a
