                   If

  If you love "checks" - + hay - + lumps

  That make you wonder if your bed has HOM

  If you can rise each morn- + smile

  And to the mess-hut walk a mile

  If you can be just sweet + kind

  When bread is short -+  bacon!!! just the rind

  But be content with a cup of tea

  "Scrounged" with much gusto by the orderly

  If you love rice all sticky + ale wet-

  And  ...  yourself with pleasure 'neath a  ... 

  If you can wash when all around are ... 

  And your one time with their splashes  ..soaking. 

  If you can hear the whistle blow

  Say not a word, but burn + go

  If can say a cheeful "Here"

  While a spiteful wasp just stings your ear

  If you can march as "square form ... 

  Year in- year out - without
