My life, travel, and experiences in the
Army, during the Great World War 1914/19
by 14/21 2801 Dr. Joseph Mahon R.A.S.C.
B.S. forces + Army of the Black Sea,
formerly 1/1837 Dr. Joseph Mahon 3/1 E. Lane.
territorial A.S.C.
horizontal rule
After several unsuccessful attempts to join
up in November 1914 I gave it up as
a bad job, it seemed to me at that time
that I was not destined to be a Soldier,
and although I offered myself for
enlistment three or four times, I was
turned down like a bad penny in
each case. Everybody will remember
the great rush to the colours during
the few months which preceded Xmas
1914, and Old Manchester the great
rotten centre of the world was not
behindbackward in offering her sonsas sacrifice on the altar of the Nation
