result to the nations of the
earth, although today I must
confess my faith is not
strong enough to see the way.
Now in this veritable
slough of despond, what is an
advocate of peace and arbitration
to say and do? Must he give up
his hopes and admit that force
is the supreme arbiter of man's
destiny, that might makes right
is a true principle of action?
Must he give up the advocacy
of the sway of peace and turn
his energy to preparing his
country to meet the enemy?
On these questions there is a multitude
of varying belief
On that awful Sunday morning
