that you are really out FREE for the afternoon  and it

is like the first circle of a heaven through which you

mount for the next few hours. Thats what happened

to me yesterday! We cleared the town, got on to a

high country road running parallel with the Bosphorous

and towards the Black Sea: on our right moorland with

real heather and blue chicory. + glimpses of a dazzling

blue Bosphorous- and beyond it on the other side, the

coast of Asia Minor sloping up sparsely covered with

houses + trees; + to the left more + more moorland

barer hills sloping down to a wide strath + to the great

Belgrade forest like an oven strath in Scotland or the

some of the Sussex downs only more wooded. colours quite

indescribable ranging from browns to purples into pale

turquoise in the far off distance where hills began to
