   ..[strikeout illegible]. It is as fair a

  morning as you could wish to see for the first of October

  thick mist everywhere but the sun breaking through -the

  dream city still a dream as yet behind the fog not a

  minaret to be seen, I'm watching to see what will

  show up first ; can't even see a glint where the

  Golden Horn is!

  On all the last four days I've been up for a bit

  wavering on legs that would play tricks of their own; if

  you want am chastening a spirit try three weeks bed

  + then get up + try to preserve your dignity in the eyes

  of the world, you'll be humiliated , your heart will

  almost fail you.  ..[smudge].  then a miracle will happen

  + you will be told you may go OUT and you'll clothe

  yourself in your right mind + a clean uniform, + will

  wobble with  a stick in on one hand side + a friendly arm

  on the other, to a lift, (which by the way you last saw

  when you were on your way 3 weeks ago to the "theatre"

  + the oblivion which is the bridge between strength and

  helplessness) then along the level till you meet the first

  obstacle - 6 steps down- you wish  you had at least 4

  hands, but a  .[strikeout illegible]..   .Porter..  comes to the rescue + you find

  yourself up against obstacle No. 2- a high step up

  into a car! There you get a hoist. + the esctasy

  of achievement is once more yours- the car starts
