The trenches are so near
that the enemy are only 35x
away. We have sentries
2 hours on & 2 hours off, so
there are no fatigues. fine
weather, We speak to one
another very often, Meals as
usual, the weather is beautiful
I am on duty from 8 pm till 10pm.
May 8
No change. weather fine, duty
8 am. till 10 am. The
artillery burst a shell just
behind our line. nobody hurt
We lose 2 men with snipers
