A round black-and-white studio photograph, in a brown mount by G. Echtlez, of Joseph FRANCOIS in his army uniform. He later joined 75th Régiment d'infanterie during the war, however this looks like it was taken during his earlier national service in 1904 as he appears much younger than in his other photographs.

FRANCOIS Joseph née le 8 octobre 1882 à Saint Appolinard canton de Pelussin ( Loire ) marié à Augustine Navogne le 13 janvier 1912 à Izieux (loire) classe 1902 n° matricule 5117 service au 141e RI bataillon de forteresse du 14-09-1904 au 18-09-1904 profession chauffeur de chaudière aux acieries Rappelé le 1 aout 1914 au 75 RI à Romans (Isère ) fait prisonnier le 02-10-1914 dans la Sommes à Lihons déporté au camp de Münster II corvée 33 puis au camp de Friedrichsfeld baraque 1 a n°93 travail à l'usine Krupp (mis au poteau ,sanction diciplinaire motif inconnu ) rapatrié le 13-12-1918 et démobilisé le 09-03-1919

Recalled August 1, 1914 to the 75 RI (Infantry Regiment) in Romans (Isère) taken prisoner 02-10-1914 Lihons in the Somme, deported to the Münster II labour camp 33 and the Friedrichsfeld camp barracks 1 year n° 93 work at the Krupp factory (put to the post, disciplinary sanction unknown) repatriated on 13-12-1918 and demobilized on 09-03-1919
