Six officers from other corps joined us for duty today. Received papers,
letter and card from L. dated 11th September, also nice letter from Mrs.
Phillips. Wrote letter to L. but am posting it tomorrow. Our guns shelled
'pimple' on Karaokol Dagh from 4 p.m. to 4.40 p.m.
7th Oct.
Posted letter to Lizzie and Mrs Phillips. Quiet day. Corporal Porter gave
me one tin of butter- very kind of him. Lot of firing on Anzac from 8 to 9
p.m.
8th Oct.
Quiet day. One shell fell near Brigadier's H/Q. Sent in statement of the
event concerning convoy on 13th Aug. to C.O. Hope it goes through.
Meeting of C.O's, Adjutants and Quartermasters of 5th & 6th Battalions
concerning linking up of 2 Battalions. Arrangements appear satisfactory.
9th Oct.
Battalions linked together from 6 p.m. designated 1/5th-6th Battalion
R.W.F.
7.30 p.m. Enemy shelled out to sea. What for no one seems to know-one
gunboat was out but shells fell about 1 miles from it. Otherwise quiet day.
10th Oct. Sunday.
Received letter from Lizzie. Had rather a busy day. Schwarz not very well.
Nothing unusual.

and wet. Nothing unusual.
12th Oct.
Schwarz a little better. Kit arrived from Lemnos. Am very pleased.
Answering Lizzie's letter today. Except another mail today. Letter and
papers from Lizzie arrived at lunch.
13th Oct.
Sent letter to L. today. Usual shelling. About 80 killed and wounded at
beach and our late camp ground. One of out aeroplanes came down on Salt
Lake. Enemy spotted it and shelled it most heavily. Airmen got away. Turks
made bad shooting.
