If you dont receive letters from me with clockwork regularity dont be surprised because I may not often have an opportunity for correspondence, but you can trust that I will do my best and write as best I can.

The last few days haven't been very dry but I suppose the warm weather may come in with the month of flowers, & you can imagine that we soldiers (pro tem.) have got no use for bad weather.

We are at present living in bivouacs but believe me the old stone house is the best palace after all, it must be great to look out the window and say to the elements "Do your worst you can't wet me in here."

                I suppose Mary didnt like
