to take the position of being the warden
in the Reading Jail but he did not kind
of like that job but anyhow he said he
would try it for a month, but when the
month was up he did not care for that
position, so what he wanted was to get into
the Reading post office, as a postman,
so he applied then & of course he had some
papers & questions to contend so he passed on
all of that & he was accepted, but for six
weeks he was sent to a place called Pinner
& train for a postman there & if he passed
everything there, he would have the position of
being in Reading post office as a postman
which he was, but while in Pinner he rode
a bicycle on his rounds, I so well remember him
telling us, how wet & cold it would be I even
can remember seeing him in the big cape he
had to wear on wet days to keep the mail from
getting wet. Well everything went well there for him
so he came home, & was taken on in the
Reading post office as postman that was in
1913. Well the next June 1914 he was entitled
to a fortnight holiday so he went to Jersey
for his holiday & had a lovely time in
fact he spent his birthday while there, as
it was June 16th, & he was 28 yrs old. But
