                    Sept 24/1918

My Dear Son

I am now looking at 2 Field Cards both received.

by the same post This Morning -one dated the

17th Reads I am Quite Well. I am being Sent down to the

Base. Letter follows at first opportunity. I have recved no

letter from you lately.

The other dated the 19th reads I am quite well. Letter

follows at the first opportunity. I have received no letter

from you for a long time - What is the meaning of "I

am being sent down to the Base" in card dated the 17th

which I note is erased in that sent on the 19th.

The last 2 letters I sent you were on the 17th of Aug.

Follow no.s 47-48 - followed by one on Sept 11 & 12 nos. 49

50, 51, 52 & 53. Let me know if you have received these.

Might I also suggest in your headings you use Father

Mother, Brother or Sister not Dear Father Mother & all

which whilst quite satisfactory robs the letter somewhat

of its more intimate appeal & has a tendency to

relegate the duty of reply to one in particular.

I assume you have got mine of the 11&12 & will have

noted my remarks re your pay. You might let me know

how you stand in that matter.

There is nothing very much to report at this end. Things

are moving very slowly at the works. Charles had another

week off last week but turned up on Monday. I shall be

very pleased when I see you here again. Your task

finished & settled down to the duties you are

intended for. I feel very little inclination to push.
