Dear Mother,

I received your ever welcome letter on

Sunday with Willie's photo enclosed, which I am very

pleased indeed to have. I am getting quite a collection now,

it is a very good likeness, although he looks thin in

the face, due no doubt to the hard training & not too

much food. I hope he will manage to get those few

days leave. it was hard lines not getting away to

the wedding but missingmissingmissing the men  ...

especially if they are on any particular work. Well, I

am keeping in the best of health, the gas I had was

sneezing  gas, & it didn't affect me very much, we are

still resting in this camp, not resting exactly, because we

have plenty of parades, & work, but on the whole we

haven't a bad time, our real rest will be when we

go out of the line, for a month or two, or better still

when the war is finished. We had a very severe

thunder storm the other night. I was on guard & was

lucky as our tent was fairly dry, a few of them were

blown over, & it did pour I can tell you. I don't remember

being in such a storm before. We have a visit from

the enemy aircraft nearly every night, but he hasn't

done any damage here, he has got the worst of it
