Celebrate Christmas and New Years the Transcribathon Way!

Happy Holidays! The Christmas Run is back for second edition!

From Wednesday 20 December 2017 to Saturday 20 January, you can join in the festivites of the season by transcribing and annotating our new selection of Christmas and New Year themed documents.

Season's greetings to all of our transcribers, new and old! 

As our holiday gift to you, we present a whole new selection of documents on Christmas and New Year during the First World War. 

War raged on, but as the temperatures dropped and the fighting slowed, families and those far away on the front were given time to spare a thought of those dear to them and reflect on the year gone by. At exactly this same time 100 years ago, people all across Europe were celebrating the season's festivities and thinking of their loved ones, just as we continue to do today. 

The festive season brought a range of unique sentiments during WW1, and the personal testimonies of those who experienced them are now waiting to be discovered, transcribed and annotated here »

The Christmas Run 2017 will take place from Wednesday 20 December 2017 to Saturday 20 January 2018. Progress made on all documents during this time will be counted as part of the Run.
