  Went sketching in afternoon with Roberts and Carter. Much warmer today.

  Wrote to Lizzie and posted letter.

  Told doctor much better. Sketching during the afternoon (Tobmes) (Should

  previous word be Tombs?). Wrote to Lizzie and posted letter. Wrote to Lizzie and posted letter.

  Sketching - wrote Lizzie and posted letter.

  8th Jan.
  

  Wrote Lizzie and posted letter. Sketched.

  9th Jan. Sunday.
  

  Sketched all day.

  10th Jan
  

  Sketched and wrote letters to Lizzie, Schwarz and stationary Office. Saw

  Miss Florence St. George sketching close near my own subject. She had some

  lovely large brushes and had a little chat with her.

  11th Jan.
  

  Sketched. Went up river at 5 p.m. in boat, returned at 6.30 p.m. Lovely
  

  sunset.

  12th Jan
  

  Sketched all day. Answered and posted letter to Miss Troughton. Also wrote

  to Lizzie and posted pension paper and letter for bank.

  13th Jan
  

  Sketched and wrote Davis Bryan's for estimate.

  14th Jan
  

  Sketched early morning- dull,misty day could not complete drawing of
  

  sketch on account of mist on hills. Received 2 papers from L. also 2

  letters dated Xmas day and 23rd Dec. Answering these letters now also

  Borthwicks letter. Posted letters to L. and Borthwick.

  15th Jan

  Went out for camel ride over to the Libyan desert. Started 9 a.m. got back
  

  5.15 p.m. Felt very stiff and tired but enjoyed the trip. Received letters

  from Rice, Schwarz also 2 from L. dated 2nd and 9th December.
