ack again some other day, if I am
to remain here very long. I came back
from Flesquieres by a different route, and
got a lift on a motor lorry, which cut
the journey a little shorter. I was back
home by 3 in the afternoon, thoroughly
satisfied with the success of my errand.
The other boys were also pleased to know
I had succeeded, and they had saved my
dinner for me.
Well mother, this is a long letter,
but I have been able to express myself
quite freely, because we were informed
today that the censoring of letters
has been abandoned, which is a
welcome measure of freedom. I will
be able to tell you anything at all now,
but of course it will be finer when
I get home and am able to tell it to
you by word o' mou' at oor ain
fireside. God speed the day!
