the time you wrote your letter, & weren't

likely to go for a few weeks, that

is, till the armistice was signed.

The loss of Angus undoubtedly is

a heavy blow to your mother

but I don't know what would

happen if she lost you.

     I'm glad to think that

you've been fairly comfortable down

at Irvine & taken advantage of

your sojourn there to make a

trip to Ayr & such places.  When

you get down to Dorset I think

you'll find it very pretty

countryside, although you'll get

there just as winter is coming on,

& therefore see it about its worst,

Portland & Weymouth would be

worth a visit while you're there,

& don't forget the 'White Horse'

about 3 miles from Weymouth.

I am much obliged to your

Willie for the news about old

friends who are back crippled

or have gone under altogether. The
