Wm. C. Gillon. Tel
HMW/T Station
Georgetown,
Demerara,
British Guiana
Dear Willie,
It seems such a long time
since I heard from you last that
I feel certain you have shifted from
Irvine ere this, so I'm addressing
this to East Main St. in the hope
that it will be readdressed to you.
Well, the long-hoped for has
come at last - peace with all its
comfort, happiness and prosperity. Let's hope
it will continue for a long, long
time.
The news of the armistice with
Germany came here on the 11th - by wireless
& the detailed conditions yesterday
by the same means. You can imagine
with what satisfaction we heard the
news from one of the operators, who
lost no time in bringing it up
from the station to the living quarters
immediately it came through. We
are 4000 miles from the war zone
but it's surprising what effect the
news did have here. The gramophone
