    ....267202...………………...Pte. F. Norton,...2/5….Notts…&...Derby...…………………….as a prisoner of war

    on......receipt of your letter....……….24.5.18...………………………………………………………………………………..

No food or clothing may be sent to prisoners of war by private

individuals as these must go through the authorised associations who begin to

despatch parcels immediately they receive a prisoner's address.  All regiments

have their care committees, by who the full supply of clothing and also three

food parcels per fortnight are sent to each prisoner.  The Care Committee for

    this regiment is: -

    ….Mrs. Bourne Wheeler, 21 Park Street, Derby...…………………………………………………………………………...

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

You should apply to them for full information, and they will be most

grateful for any contributions towards the cost of the parcels, and will see that

those towards which subscriptions are received are sent in the name of the donor.

Cigarettes and tobacco are included in the contents of the food parcels,

but an extra supply may be sent by means of a permit issued by the Care

    Committee.

The next of kin of a prisoner of war may send a small Personal Parcel

to him once a quarter, and for this a coupon is necessary.  Application must

be made to the Care Committee for this and also for instructions.

No restriction is placed upon the number of letters that may be sent

to a prisoner of war.  No stamp is required and the flap of the envelope should

be turned in and not stuck down.  Letters may be sent through the post in

the ordinary way and should be directed as follows : -

If friends wish to send extra Tobacco, we can issue Permits for small quantities
to be ordered to go direct from authorised firms, duty free.
    Your faithfully,
    FLORENCE BOURNE WHEELER,
    Hon. Sec.

We have placed his name on our list, and supplies of food and clothing will be
regularly despatched to him from to-day in accordance with the following particulars.
Six Food parcels (8/-each) every 4 weeks.
28 lbs of Bread from Copenhagen or Berne (7/6) every 4 weeks.
A complete outfit of clothing every six months.
The contents of the Food Parcels are varied every week, and every parcel
contains 50 Cigarettes. The accompanying slip show the contents of the parcel we
    are sending at once.
missing text due to paper fold received by this Committee for forwarding to
    Prisoners of War.
Our work is entirely dependent upon voluntary subscriptions, and we shall
therefore be grateful if you can help us with the cost of the food supplies, but
it is not desired that anyone send more than they can comfortably spare. As our office
staff must be kept as small as possible, we would ask subscriptions, however small,
may be regular, and paid monthly for preference. Eight shillings will pay for one
food parcel, and the donor's name and address is written on the card which is packed
    inside the food parcel.
Will you please tell me at once the Cap and Boot sizes of this Prisoner of War,
and inform us in future of any change in his address that he may tell you of.
You may send him a Personal Parcel yourself once every three months, of which
particulars are given in the accompanying circular.

    DEAR SIR (OR MADAM),
    We have to-day received information that...…………..your husband...………………………………………….

Our work is entirely dependent upon voluntary subscriptions, and we shall
therefore be grateful if you can help us with the cost of the food supplies, but
it is not desired that anyone send more than they can comfortably spare. As our office

food parcel, and the donor's name and address is written on the card which is packed
    inside the food parcel.
Will you please tell me at once the Cap and Boot sizes of this Prisoner of War,
and inform us in future of any change in his address that he may tell you of.
You may send him a Personal Parcel yourself once every three months, of which
particulars are given in the accompanying circular.

If friends wish to send extra Tobacco, we can issue Permits for small quantities
to be ordered to go direct from authorised firms, duty free.
    Your faithfully,
