The Call of the Blood

Hark! What's the sound now stealing o’er the

vasty deep

It is the sound of Nations awakening from

their sleep;

“Mother, we hear thee calling” – and Mother,

we’re coming home!’

“Mother, we'll gather round thee to defend

 our Empire's throne.”

“In thousands we are coming, Mother, and thousands

 follow still;

From farm & city hasten we, from Ranch and

 timber mill;

From the land of the “Maple Leaf” we come to

 stand by thee - ”

“Our hearts are true and steadfast, our face’s

 set and stern."

 Right Page

"The German’s will soon find, “Mother” they’ve

got a lot to learn.

With Bayonet fixed and steady, they’ll

find we all are ready

To teach them a good lesson, for  they

the Belgian homes they burned

Ireland was in rebellion, they thought

 it was their chance

But “Mother" we’ve come home again, to

rally round our Flag.

And, the Germans, now understand -

that -

United we still stand.
