"I haye been over two years in the unit, and know of only

one Grant in it. He was killed by a shell near the Poziers Cemetry

about the middle of sept. 1916. He was a stretcher bearer, and

was on duty at the time. Cpl. Wilkinson of the 5th Field Ambulence can,

I think, give definite information as to this casualty. The same

shell killed 55 men, but the wounded man whom Grant was carrying was

not touched. Wilkinson was with his unit when I left in January./17.

Grant was an American.
