"General Orders for Kitchen Police"


1. To take charge of all spuds in view.

2. To dish out slum in a military manner. 

keeping always on the alert, observing all meat

balls that go out of sight or hearing.

3. To report all calls from the mess halls for seconds

4 To report any pvt. or Non. Com. who asks for thirds

5. To quit the coffee pot only when properly releived

6. To hold conversion with no one who asks for onions

7. In case of fire take out the ash can and get a bucket of coal

8. To allow no one to smoke in the galley or

mess hall except cooks and mess men

9. To salute all slum, not encased in an overcoat

10. Between reveille + retreat to call out the guards

for all objects found in the slum that are not

on the bill of fare.

11 At reveille to put out all dish rags, which must

be saluted by all pvts. + non. coms that pass through the kitchen

12. At night on the hours designated by the

man in charge of quarters to turn out the kitchen

police for any person hanging around the

galley for hand outs.
