There were a large number of spiders & wasps – The result

of a wasp in a spiders web was generally in favour of the

spider. Then there were many moles. And in the spring

frogs and toads. So we wasted our hours!

During this autumn most evenings before Oct 20th when

the snow came we played rounders. It was good exercise

when the snow came the Russians built and enormous

purpose of lugering. These luges  could be bought in

the Canteen – for the Canteen was above all a money

making concern.

A description of the boat which we spent the winter of 15–16

making is as follows – which we written above deletion: It was made to call  in the

required way. The rest was constructed out of a deck

chair made of oak wood. The frame work was made

of pieces two foot long these were joined together by a

small piece with screws & bolts – rope, our walking

sticks 3 raquet presses  complete all had their uses

During 1916 we had several narches-  but they always

drew blank .

During this winter I visited the dentist in Clausthal. He

was a rough individual. Later for a time he was relieved by *

The guard as a rule were friendly disposed to the English.

One who stayed a long time we called Capt Kettle. He

was the exact repliqua. He honestly said he had no

caretaker of the watch dogs – he stayed a long time
