Dear Mrs Murphy,

It is with deepest

regret that I write to inform you of

the death of your husband Pte J 

Murphy 7th R, Inns Fusiliers, who

passed away on the 18th inst;

He had been very ill for the last

month with disentry, he also had a 

very bad wound which of course made

him very weak.

Corpl Ross and myself were with

him when he died, and it was his

wish that I should write to you,

he asked me to wish you and his

dear children good bye.

I have given his personal effects to
