of a brave life given for others

in the Great War.

Along with the letter is a bronze medallion called The Memorial Plaque. It depicts Britannia standing alongside a lion. It also is personalized with the name "Thomas Dawdry". This medallion was given to the next of kin of British service personnel who lost their lives in WW1. The medallion is also commonly known as the "Dead Man's Penny".
