and there is no doubt we
proved a boon to many
members in the holiday
week. The shops being closed
and the scarcity of bread
enabled them to purchase
good potatoes + beans, straight
from the land, cheap. What
a refreshing sight to see the
men women + children, coming
over the hill to buy. We
were taxed to our utmost
morning, afternoon + night,
during that week. The fact
of us taking over 15£ gives one
an idea of the labor entailed,
what a wage we should have
