My Dear Mother just a few lines to you

in answer to your kind and loving letter

in which I am pleased to hear you and all

are quite well as it leaves me the same. Sorry

I haven't wrote before we have only stopped in

harbour for a day and out again well

I am glad to say we have got here safe

well how is Doris I hope she is quite well

and I still think about her I will see what

I can buy for her when I go ashore. I am

having my photo taken out here so I will

send one home it seems funny that our

time is 9 hours in front of yours well

dear mother I think I have said all

this time hoping this will find you

and all quite well as it leaves me

the same from your ever loving and

most affectionate son Jack XXXXX
