We mourn our Army's hero,

  Of Godly deeds' renown;

His name our hearts shall treasure,

  A King - without a crown!

We mourn our noble seamen,

  So valiant, true and brave,

Their loyal, grand ambition

  Our shores from Huns to save.

In Freedom's name they suffered,

  For righteousness they died;

Theirs not to see the vict'ry,

  And welcome it with pride.

To us they leave the conflict;

  Then let us faithful be;

With God as our Defender

  We soon shall triumph see.

O God, in highest heavens,

  Our wayward spirits bend;

In grace to our offences

  Thine ear in pity lend.

Teach us to trust Thee fully,

  To love Thy holy will;

That so our favoured nation

  Be favoured Britain still!
