Sepia, postcard sized, photograph of Harry Wright Smith of Linton, Holderness Road Hull (written of back of postcard see next page 133) he is standing in front of large white bivouac tent probably at training camp at Beverley Camp, Yorkshire. in October/November 1916. He was later promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment, and was wounded, the other photograph of him in Officer's uniform is on Page 124
He wears the uniform and cap badge for the East Yorkshire Regiment, where his number was his no. was 13/236, he has puttees on, leather ammunition webbing and carries a bayonet holder on his belt. I believe the rifle is an early issue. He later won the Military Medal (shown in list in London Gazette, 19th August 1917) whilst a Lance Corporal in the East Yorkshire Regiment.
