Postcard sized real sepia photograph of East Yorkshire Regiment taken at Beverley training camp, Yorkshire.  The sign in front row possibly identifies this group of nine men and a corporal as 3856 squad or may be for the photographer's reference.

All are wearing new uniforms with cap badges for the East Yorkshire Regiment, and are bearing Lee Metford Rifles in front of large bivouc Army tents. Probably taken just after men were called up for training in 1915.

Overleaf  it says that:

Harry Smith - Dad (Charles Verity (13/267) written in blue ink

                              (centre) }} all written in pencil

Lee-Metford Rifles}

Enfield not issued }

George William Williams (13/280) bottom right in front row,

Charles Verity (13/267) 2nd from right in back row, next to Harry Smith 3rd from right

He has not been mentioned in either of the George Williams/Charles Verity Diaries, but assume is chum from Hull or possibly the Primitive Methodist church there.

(He is Harry Wright Smith (13/236) as the Army no. is close, he later became a 2nd Lieutenant in the West Riding Regiment, see photos on pages 124 & 138)
