to give me any information There is now doubt about
my application going through whatever occurs at your
end.
I got the order definately for the New Pekoe Store
which has been held up so long on the 9th The amount
of Contract will be about 1900 L instead of 670 as
the first order was + I hope to have this work in hand
very Shortly.
I have had a Hawksworth in today who
has got 14 days leave for the purpose of obtaining
employment & understands if he can get this will be
able to have his discharge. Have told Herbert to
tell him an offer similar to one sent to you as a
labourer, if he accepts this I shall be willing to
give him a start.
I have had to write O. Greenwood pointing
out that he was not employed here in 1914 + seeing
that the wages are 72/8 per 47 hrs. we could not
offer him employment as a smith or skilled man at
that rate, he wrote back saying he was sorry there
were so many difficulties in the way + did not see
any way only waiting untill general demobilisation
I intend to write him making an offer similar to
Hawksworth which if he care to accept will
probably secure his release.
You must be sure to write us as soon
as you here anything about your release, will
write a longer letter when I feel fit as I only
tried to write you seeing it was such a long
time since my last letter.
