Dear Edgar
I was very pleased to receive your last letter in which
you state you have got attached to a heavy lorry convoy + that
your probable destination is the South of France Timber haul-
-ing I hope this turns out correct + that the Billett proves
fairly comfortable - He recived notice last week that you
allottment
forhad been transferred from York to the ASCsection + your mother expects to recive this when she calls on
the 9th the monthly pay day. She has been looking very
anxiously for a letter the last few days + wonders why
you do not write , perhaps if your letters contained more
news the effect of them would be more enderring some
of your late effursions have been very barren
There is not much to report from this end- work is falling
off considerable at the works - Snowden is playing all
this week as we are Quite out of Smith work in point of
fact I have only had one enqury for any Smith work since
you left + that was for some Builders work
The M-G-M (Timber Controll) have refused Shay. + Law
permit to purchase any more Timber for Fire proof doors
+ last week I bought Tinplates at equal to 103/6 a bose
which is abnormal I used to get these at under 2 of -I
do not know what will be the ultimate result but am
very much afraid that it means a stoppage in regard to
the Fireproof Don Trade. April 29
I have Engineers to hand for 3 Staircaseses 2 for Dewsbury
