No. 3 Mob 2 Centre MTASC Thorn Mead
Dovington Camp,
Salisbury
Dear Edgar,
I have just finished looking through the last 3
letters received since you left for the second time with the
intention of replying to them but after careful examination
cannot find anything to reply too, taking singly
they are quite barren of news of any material interest &
even collectively don't say much for your powers of observation
or merits as a correspondent.
I should have thought that Salisbury Plain would have
been a sufficient change to provide you with material
sufficiently interesting to warrant a long letter, perhaps
you are too busy?
In regards to the 3/6 we have heard nothing further.
In respect to Shirts I understand these are leaving
Tuesday morning
There is nothing very to report from this end except that
at the moment I have an attack of influenza & did
not get up until 11 am & feel very far from well at the
moment.
J. Bower has received his calling up note & takes it
very different from what appeared would be his probable
attitude some months ago. in point of fact he has funke
which of course is excusable in a man of 47 years
of age. Tom Longee is another man who is called up for
July 15 Class A & 48. You may not know him but he was
one of the men who called at Thorn mead to see if Herbert
would volunteer under the Daly Scheme, I intend to close
at one page for night but will write you more fully when I have more
of yours to reply to. Yours affectionately, Father
