My Dear Son
I had hoped that I should have been able to obtain
your transfer back to civil life when I heard that the Army
was asking men to sign on for work in Ship Yards. I saw Mr
Bean personally + had a long chat with him + explained the
position , we Both agreed that it was not wise for him to write
to the War Office in the first instance but to wait untill
an enqury was recieved from them, he said he would be
only too pleased to have you Back + that I could rely upon
him doing his very best in the event of the War office mak-
-ing very much afraid will not.
I also thought of Mess Cole Marchant + Morley + decided to
approach them through the Medium of Mr George Carter
who very kindly offerred to see Mr Brailsford the Principle
who is very much in touch both with the Admirality +
the War Office + is certainly the most likely + influental
man I know for a task this kind. I met Mr Carter
this morning who informed me that he has seem Mr
Brailsford who greatly regretted that he was Quite
unable to do anything to help you although he would
have been only to willing if his efforts had any
chance of being successful from the statement made to
Mr Carter it appears that he went down specially last
week to London + the War Office to try to obtain the return
of three or four of their own men but without any result
be a decided refusal he stated that although he
