Dear Edgar

Re yours of the 23rd I note you are applying to be

transferred to Mess Newton Bean + Mitchell + hope you are

fortunate enough to secure a transfer somewhere but am afraid

you will scarcely succeed in choosing a position for yourself

Mess N. B + M will be suited if you are sent that way

+ so should I but I do not see how they can move in this

matter unless they receive some enquiry from the War.

Office you do not give very much information beyond the

bald fact that you propose to apply + this is all the

Information I could give Mr Bean- however keep me posted

up to date + let me know of any further developments

I think you are right in stating that you will

be performing Quite as useful service as a Smith as

in your present position

Your Mother + I got Back from Appleby last night after

a pleasant 21 days along with Mr & Mrs Moorhouse.

& found that Fred had fallen from a tram during the

holidays imparing his head & Clarence in hospital

with a broken ankle due to a fall from a ashpit

You will probably be asked some very pertinent

question before the matter of your transfer is settled

& in all your replys be careful not to make any

statements you cannot substantiate

Mother will send

shirts on Friday

Yours affectionately

Father
