My Dear Edgar
I thought as you left me last night that you would
think the parting somewhat at abrupt but as a matter of fact I
did not feel equal to the task of prolonging it, I had a fairly
good journey down
is+afound two interesting fellow travellers inthe seargent whom you would probably notice sat near the window
nearest the Jewish gentlemen who
wasstood near thedoor of the carriage engaged in conversation with a pe
arsons whohad evidently lunched to well I learnt he had originally 3 or 4 sons
in the army one of whom won the
DCDist Service Medal, sincekilled, another who
tois now 19 + enlisteid nearly 4 years ago whois in hospital suffering from Shell shock his name is Adler T.
from his conversations evidently + clothier + Cloth Merchant in the
mMinories he came farly well provided for the Journeyhis Rations consisting of about 6 Fresh Laid hard boiled eggs
Bread + Sponge cake all of which had been boiled or Baked
by Mrs Adler a Full Bottle of Whisky - A Flask of Dillo. T.
2 Large Boxes of Egyptian Cigarettes with the exception of
Full Bottle of Whisky he very generously shared the lot
with the Three of us. He had Travelled all over the world was
at home
a Freemason. Had coffee with The Cali President Kruger , his
Uncle (of course a Jew) during their libations s
elling thethe President + some 6 Companies one of whom he said was
General Botha a
weartwatch each which struck the hours + Quartesat L60/0/0. A Time he sat he could speak German -Spanish
French- eli + several Kaffir Dialects with fluency, his English
certainly might have been improved he had Travelled all
Europe- South Africa including Bulways - + Part of South
