  men have been killed
  

  & wounded. Strange to
  

  say or rather not strange
  

  to say I have never
  

  once had the slightest
  

  fear. Snipers have shot at
  

  us & shells & straprel
  

  & continuos gas shells
  

  but I have confidence
  

  that God in answer to
  

  prayers both of myself
  

  and others for me will
  

  bring me safely through
  

  I am putting this in
  

  writing to remind me
  

  & others in after years
  

  of many direct answers

  to prayer that I myself
  

  have had. I have not had
  

  a shave since last Saturday
  

  and this morning I
  

  went out to a shell
  

  hole under fire and
  

  had a wash in
  

  dirty warter, felt
  

  quite refreshed. I have
  

  been on ration fatigue
  

  every night. This is far
  

  more dangerous than being
  

  in the trenches and I
  

  have not had one hours
  

  sleep the whole time
  

  but I dont even feel
  

  sleepy. I am wondering
  

  what to day will
  

  bring. It is somewhere
