A Picture No Artist can Paint
Picture a fairy August night
When our lads from this town went out
to fight
Outward they went to a foreign shore,
They bid good-bye perhaps for evermore,
Many a poor Mother has broken her heart.
With one or two son's she has had to part
We'll fight to a finish now we have began
Thats a picture no artist can paint
___________________________________________
Picture the lads in the Dardenelles.
Fighting there way through shot + shell
Onward they went, they knew no fear.
Little they thought that death was near.
Officers and sergeants privates as well.
Side by side they fought and fell.
There were eyes there to witness, but no tongue
can tell.
Thats a picture no artist can paint
