Sep 27th / 18My Dearest Minnie
I recieved your most welcome letter yesterday. I was
sorry to hear that your ear is like it is I hope
it will be better by the time you receive this letter.
I am pleased to tell you that I am alright at present.
We are still resting and a big battle has been
raging all along the line, and a big success has
been achieved by us and the French. I think that
if we continue as we are doing, that the War wont
be long before it is over, I hope, and trust not.
I told you before that I was sorry I had not sent
Mattie a post card, but I will send her one when
I can get another. As regards sending my love to
Mrs Fisher, as I worded it, I did not know I had
mentioned her as Mrs Fisher until I got your letter
and you mentioned it so I humbly apologize. I
did not mean what you have taken it for so
forgive me wont you? I shall wear the chain
when I receive it and I shall regard it in the
spirit in which it is sent lovie. I expect to see
Joe Heppenstall to night, and I am pleased to hear
