My Dear Son.
I see by the date of my Last Letter that I
have not written you for three weeks + over which is
much longer than I intended . We have all been very
busy this week end. (though I had intended writing you
last week) hanging pictures + removing. I came home
on Saturday with the car fully loaded with oil paintings
Two of them painted by Charles Lister in 1878
Entitled Lower Water Cumberland + A Summer day.
Loch Boyle Perthshire measure about 4".0" x 2".6" Another
called Jacks yarn is by Earnest H Rigg + somewhat
larger This bears the label of Arthur Rigg Swan
Arcade Studio >25/0/0 I have another somewhat
larger, a study of a girl playing with a kitten
by the same Artist which fills half one side of the
Drawing Room Two more very good examples of
First Studies originally owned by Arthur Lancaster's
Father + Later his sister comprise the Lot. We
spent the whole of Saturday the lot of us hanging these
+ then on Sunday decided the Bookcase was in
the way + owing to it being a wet day set on to
move this which meant pulling down
& book noin the office & a general upset which has lasted
till today. Your letter being the first thing I have
done since Saturday except removing, however ...
