Dear Friend
I was very glad to re-
ceive your letter of the 12th April
which, however didn't reach me but
towards the end of July. I thought
already that you were not more alive
& is to be attributed to the English
censorship, I think. Your letter seems
to have been opened on the way.
But the longer it lasted, the
great was my pleasure to hear of
your having survived the evils of cap-
tivity in good healthy. I am very
