Well I didn't know what to do. I was still keen on but a little ...  ...  ... 


Anyhow I started to promenade up the road, but before I reached the Yeomanry Barracks, I had already decided that I wouldn't do for the cavalry, and the  ... had already refused me in 1914. So I walked on up to  ... Barracks. it would be turned nine when I reached there. I stopped at the gate and looked in, and there placarded on the wall was " ... Wanted". I said Joe that's  ...  ... , and I went forth to meet my fate. 


I went up to what appeared to be sort of an office and young dark curly headed  ... listened to enquiries. He told me that they wanted men as  ... had a good look at me and asked me my occupation. I gave him the necessary information, told him I knew nothing about horses, and conversed with him on the chances of joining as a clerk. No they didn't want clerks,  ... they wanted and didn't matter whether [sic] I knew.
