It is no security whatever for debt. Any person being in
possession of its a pledge or security for debt is liable
on summary conviction to a penalty of (£20) for a first offence, and a
like penalty or imprisonment for six months for a second offence,
under section 156 (9) of the Army Act.

INSTRUCTIONS for the guidance of the Pensioner.___________________________________1. Payment of your Pension is due each Wednesday, and will be made only on production of this Certificateat the Post Office selected for payment. If you do not draw your pension each week the arrears can be issued onyour application at the Post Office within a month.2. Notice should be given to the Postmaster in any case where it is desired to change the Post Office at which payment is made.3. Should you be ill and unable to go to the Post office, send someone you can trust to the Post office with this Certificate, to ask the Postmaster for the Allowance Form, so that you can sign the Form and get the back of theCertificate on the back signed also. The Postmaster will hold this Certificate until the signed Form is broughtback to him. Then he will return it to the bringer, with the money for you.4. As payment cannot be made without this , it should be taken great care of. If it is lost youshould at once inform the Superintendent, Pension Issue Office, Baker Street, London, W.1, and also the Post Office5. If you leave your pension undrawn for four successive quarters your name will be struck off the List andwill not be replaced unless you satisfactorily explain your neglect.6. When writing about your pension always quote the number of this certificate and state (1) your regimentalnumber, (2) full name, (3) regiment, and (4) The Post Office at which payment is make. Amy change of address shouldbe at once notified to the Superintendent, Pension Issue Office, Baker Street, W.1.7. As soon as the last ring has been obliterated by the Post Office, this Certificate must be returned to the Superintendent, Pension Issue Office, Baker Street, London, W.1. who will issue a new settlement if any more pension is due. When returning your Certificate state your address in full.8. Any pensioner shown to have been convicted of Crime, to have fraudulently attempted to obtain Pensionto have pledged or otherwise improperly parted with his Identity or Life Certificate, or to have been guilty ofother gross misconduct, will be liable to be deprived of his Pension to such an extent as the Minister of Pensionsmay direct, in addition to other punishment that the Law may inflict. Sentence of a Court of Law, followingconviction of felonious Crime, involves forfeiture of Pension in many cases.9. Pensions must not leave His Majesty's Dominions without permission, and they will not receive theirpension for any period during which they reside without such permission, in any country not forming part of His Majesty's Dominions.10. The In-Pension Establishments at Chelsea and Kilmainham afford a home for deserving Out-Pensionerswho are incapable of labour. Every application for admission should be made, by letter only, addressed to theSecretary, Royal Hospital Chelsea, or to the Secretary, Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin. The minimum agefor admission in ordinary cases is 55 years, but Pensioners disabled by wounds or sickness resulting from Military Service may be admitted earlier. Out-Pensioners can be admitted only as vacancies occur, and after their application is -
