  sleep far too cold
  

  am going to a service

  Wrapped my feet up in
  

  my puttees last 2 nights
  

  to try & get warm. not
  

  had my boots off for a
  

  week till then.
  

  lot of E. service in field &
  

  then went to a special
  

  communion service in
  

  a hut, you would all
  

  be in Grford morning
  

  service. I tried to picture
  

  you all. I often do.
  

  Easter Monday. I hope you will
  

  never give Tommy any encouragement
  

  of any kind whatsoever to become
  

  a soldier. It is a terrible

  am dreading getting "Chatty" but
  

  am bound to do so within the next
  

  day or two it cannot be avoided
  

  We march through seas of mud
  

  Saturday April 6. We have
  

  had a bath, first for a
  

  month and first time I
  

  have found undesirable
  

  company, several ugly things
  

  we did not move yesterday but
  

  have just got orders again to
  

  dress in fighting order and
  

  we are off up the line.
  

  The Band of the Battalion
  

  have got their instruments
  

  back to day. I have seen the
  

  Bandmaster & he has told
