My darling Ivy

At last I have found time to write to

you. You really must believe that I am neglecting

you. I have had a fearful time this week but

I am glad to say it is over at last and I shall

have a fairly easy time for a few days.

Well, old lady our Smoking Concert came

off on Friday night & was a great success. I enclose

you a copy of the programme but there were a

great many more items than are down, all the Officers

were present and every one thoroughly enjoyed it,

my word it was wet too. this is the bill I have had

to pay this morning. 15 bottles Whiskey. 2 bottles port

1 bottle Wincarnis. 6 bottles cyder. 6 syphons soda. 1 bottle

sherry. 1 bottle rum, 1 bottle brandy, 30 gallons beer.

200 cigarettes, 1 box cigars, what do you think of that

besides bread, biscuits, cheese, tongue, salmon and

ham & beef. There were about 100 present, we kept it

up till 12.15 then to bed & up again at 5 this morning

to get the last draft of men off to Ireland.
