My darling girl,
Your letter of 1 April reached
me last night and was very glad to get
it though sorry & surprised at the news it
contained. Kiddie I had no idea your
mother was so bad for your previous letter
gave me the idea that the stroke was slight
and no danger at all. Imagine my surprise
then at reading your letter but I am glad
to know that your mother is getting along
well and I trust has continued so and
quite well again long before thus. It
must have been a very trying time for
you all. Please remember me to your
mother and give her my love.
I am glad you like the photos they are
not bad and its alright to think we
had them taken when we were all together.
Roy and I were going to be taken
together at Bournemouth but I left
right page
Wareham the day we were going to visit the
photographers. You were expecting my diary
to turn up by the next mail but you
would have to wait a while longer as I
have already explained to you.
Charlie told me about the picnic and
the boat accident. It was rather unfortunate
though they were lucky no one was drowned.
He says his mother was much shaken up
by it but was getting along well at the
time of writing. His description of rigging
his mother out with my clothes was amazing.
I have not heard from Charlie Jones for
some time but I would not be surprised
if the fault was mine everyone is giving
me a turn about not writing. I do not
wonder at him going to Epping for he
always had a liking for the place and
I think once he settles there he will not
come back to R'dale. (Kingy has just
pinched the tub I was using for a table.)
