Pte. H.H. Grant, S22926. Can. A.M.C. Field Ambulance.
K. Sept. 16.16.
"H.H. Grant was killed by a shell. Eight of them were caught in a barrage in the early morning. Two were wounded and were taken back. One was not to be seen, and the other four were killed, including Grant.
Informant says none of them were buried. When they went back to bury them nothing was to be seen of them. Grant had a "chunk" of shell right through his pay-book, wallet and letters. These were taken back by informant as he was the only one to escape of the eight.".
