A few lines in answer
to your kind letter, received
safely . I wondered if there was
anything wrong at home, not
hearing for a long time, but
perhaps, you too, thought I had
been killed, as my people were
sent a paper from the war
office to that effect, but am
glad to say I am alright
again, and going in again on
Monday. As you remark, there is
not the least chance to get
home for Xmas, and I suppose it
will mean n° 2 out here. The
weather here is terrible, water
up to our waist, and cold
with it. I hope that good time
won't be long in coming as I
could do with a decent time
now. Those soldiers in the

safely . I wondered if there was
anything wrong at home, not
hearing for a long time, but
perhaps, you too, thought I had
been killed, as my people were
sent a paper from the war
office to that effect, but am
glad to say I am alright
again, and going in again on
Monday. As you remark, there is
not the least chance to get
home for Xmas, and I suppose it
will mean n° 2 out here. The
weather here is terrible, water
up to our waist, and cold
with it. I hope that good time
won't be long in coming as I
