Description

Final entries by George Williams before going over the top in the Battle of Ancre, it looks to me as though maybe Corporal William H Gofton (13/396) wrote the entries 'gone over 6 am' & 'Enlisted 1914' in retrospect in the diary after 13th November 1916, which was the day George Williams died in the attack at Serre.

Serre-lès-Puisieux, Pas de Calais, France was the village Serre where many men died that day from Hull.
